Choosing The Best Possible Clubs For A Golf Game

A very important aspect of playing golf is the ability to choose the appropriate golf club for the execution of a given stroke; so much so, that a good golf club can even compensate for errors in your technique and bring about a superb shot out of a not so superb stroke.

Choosing the correct club for the perfect execution of a given shot could be a daunting task in the early days of your introduction to playing golf; but that knack would start coming naturally and effortlessly to you as you become more accomplished in the game with time and experience. It is the hallmark of a great golf player whose game too would improve by leaps and bounds. Let us examine this aspect in more detail below:

People who are not into golf can hardly imagine what a golfer is doing by carrying 14 different clubs in his bag; but the expert golfer knows that each one will become handy at one point or another during a game and that he would very much miss a club even if it was required only once during a game where you will probably play several shots using other clubs as well including using some of the clubs several times over. The 14 clubs consists of a mix of irons, putters, wedges and drivers. Some of the clubs may be used only for correction of errors in respect of deviations from intended targets arising from imperfect strokes and techniques. There are the high precision clubs which are less tolerant to errors of technique than the more flexible types that are more tolerant to slight deviations and deflections from the norm. Those in their early stages of golfing should be careful not to use the type of clubs that are beyond their skill levels, especially drivers, since they are less forgiving to human errors.

The difference in skill levels between two golfers is reflected in the clubs they carry in their respective bags. The less skilled golfers and beginners who say, score 100 or more strokes over par show a penchant for woods that are easy to handle with more accuracy while shunning the driver type of clubs which are less forgiving. On the other hand, the higher skilled and expert gofers who generally score in the region of 10 strokes or so over par would carry more of less forgiving irons and drivers that are capable of sending the balls rocketing over longer ranges though with less accuracy and predictability. However, it is a property that that they are well capable of controlling in virtue of their higher skill level.

There are also the Hybrid clubs that are adjustable and are quite an asset to especially the beginners. They are relatively shorter in length and are a breed between irons and woods with the capability to provide higher accuracy in virtue of their short length. Their specially designed light, hollow heads provide a superb lift with the swing to carry the ball over a long range. You will take some time to get accustomed to these unique hybrids, but they can spice up your game to a great extent. Anyway, it is advisable to have a few tryouts with these hybrids before you buy one.

There are 14 to a set of golf clubs and each has a definite role to play for those who value perfection in whatever they do. Some beginners may carry half sets instead and do the function of a particular club using a totally differently designed club; but remember it is like assigning the task of a fork to a spoon or vice versa.  Learning to play golf as it should be played makes it a more enjoyable sport altogether.
